Home Electricity Generation & DIY Generator Projects
-
Alternative forms of home electricity generation are becoming more and more common these days, but consider for a moment where we would we be if electricity had not yet been discovered. The fact is the modern world as we know it relies very heavily on electrical power for televisions, for computers like the one this article is been written on, and radio that informs and entertains us, for recording and amplification of music, for the fridges and freezers that are necessary to store our food and keep it fresh, for light and a million other things.
-
However, all of the above comes at a cost, and so one must inevitably ask the question: is it really possible to build a homemade generator – a cheap electric generator that can serve as a viable alternative to finite resources? Now, certainly there is an environmental cost to consider, but what about renewable, free energy or green energy if you prefer?
-
Of course off-grid cost-free energy IS obtainable, but is it really in the best interests of the power generation organizations to inform you about how you could obtain free energy? In the instance of power companies, energy that you could generate for yourself by building some kind of DIY electric generator is definitely not good for business. Governments can set guidelines and targets for reductions in greenhouse gasses, but the vast majority of them are simply too dependent on large corporations for campaign funding to have the motivation to make a change.
-
They argue that alternative, green energy sources such as wind turbines, solar panels, geothermal and tidal power cannot take the place of gas, oil, nuclear or coal fired power stations because these forms of power generation alone would not be sufficient to meet the ever increasing demand.
-
Now consider the other side of the argument.
-
To begin with, ANY kind of DIY generator decreases our dependence on polluting or hazardous finite resources. Free, renewable energy which could be produced by making a DIY wind turbine generator for instance is clearly one possible part of the solution, not part of the problem. If you were to make your own generator, it is actually quite surprising how much of a contribution it is possible to make towards solving the environmental problem while at the same time saving a considerable amount of cash.
-
In fact all it takes is a couple of solar panels and one DIY wind power generator to produce an adequate amount of electricity to more or less cover the typical home electricity generation requirements of one conservative person. A family consisting of four or more people would most likely live in quite a large home, so if your whole roof was fitted with solar panels, would that not produce a significant amount of renewable, free power for your family? Note that a family of four would not necessarily use four times the amount of power as a single individual, because, for example, there will be occasions when you are all together in one room, sharing the resources and perhaps watching the same show on TV. There can be little doubt that DIY wind generators and solar panels are capable of making a massive difference to your finances, and you will also be protecting in the future of the planet for your children.
-
Information on DIY generator projects nowadays is readily available and it is possible to buy instructions detailing how you can build a wind turbine generator, magnate generator or solar panel in your own workshop for just $200 or less. If more people began to adopt these home electricity generation technologies, the necessity to build more traditional power stations could be reversed. In fact, it is possible that there may even be an untapped business opportunity here for you. Indeed it would certainly be an astute move to investigate alternative power sources as soon as possible, because the world is a rapidly changing place.
